Foundation

The BALL Research Collective was founded by Dr. Lockett in 2025 shortly after completing his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology. The collective was created to bridge research, advocacy, and community engagement through affirming and socially responsive scholarship grounded in care, justice, and empowerment.

Mission

At the BALL Research Collective, we are committed to advancing knowledge that empowers, affirms, and prioritizes the well-being of Black, Afro-diasporic, and LGBTQ+ communities. Through community-centered research, advocacy, mentorship, and engagement, we strive to produce scholarship that supports healing, equity, liberation, and collective wellness.

Focus

Promoting health equity, centering Black queer joy and wellness, and developing culturally responsive work grounded in lived experience.
